Accessibility
Chanticleer welcomes visitors of all abilities. A one-mile paved path circles the garden, and most areas, including the Chanticleer House, are accessible by wheelchair, stroller, and other mobility devices. Our Visitor Services staff are able to recommend routes that avoid steep terrain and steps based on your needs.
Please note: Wheelchairs and scooters are not available for rent. We encourage you to bring your own mobility device.
Service animals are welcome. Pets, emotional support animals, and therapy animals are not permitted in the garden.
Visitor Guidelines
Garden Etiquette
We ask all guests to help us preserve the garden’s beauty and tranquility:
- Stay on paths and lawns.
- Admire plants and wildlife without disturbing them (please don’t feed the fish)
- Keep the garden smoke-free.
- Carry out what you bring in and keep personal items with you.
- Keep children within sight.
- Pets, sports, sunbathing, and loud sounds are not permitted.
Personal, non-commercial photography is welcome. See our Photography Guidelines and Restrictions.
Picnicking
We welcome picnicking in four designated areas throughout the garden, available first-come, first-served. Help us keep Chanticleer beautiful: leave areas as you find them and take out everything you bring in.
Friday Evening Picnics (May – September)
From 5–8 pm on Fridays, you may picnic anywhere in the garden. Blankets and chairs are permitted during these evening hours only.
Painting
Painting is welcome on lawns and terraces Wednesday through Friday, 10 am to 5 pm. Please stay with your equipment, carry out what you bring in, and leave adequate space for others to enjoy the garden around you.
Photography
We welcome and encourage personal photography during your visit. Please remember that all personal photos and videos are for non-commercial use only and be mindful of fellow guests by keeping pathways open.
Serious photographers and those using a tripod are asked to review and sign our Photography Guidelines and Restrictions form, available online and at the Front Desk.
Not Permitted:

Frequently Asked Questions
I purchased an admission ticket but am unable to visit as planned. Can I reschedule my reservation?
Yes. Reservations for parking, admission and weekly tours can be rebooked by emailing chanticleer@chanticleergarden.org or calling 610-687-4163 ext. 114.
What can I do if parking reservations are sold out for my preferred date or time?
Please choose a different date or time, or plan to arrive after parking reservations are no longer required (see our Parking Reservation Schedule). You can also reach the garden by rideshare, taxi, bicycle or on foot, no reservation needed for those arrivals.
We encourage booking early during peak periods, especially spring weekends and Friday evenings. Reservations open four weeks in advance.
Can I arrive earlier or later than my parking reservation time?
Please arrive as close to your scheduled time as possible to help us manage visitor flow and ensure everyone has a positive experience. We may not be able to accommodate you if you arrive outside of your reservation time.
Can I host a party or event at Chanticleer?
We welcome groups for tours and self-guided visits, but private events are not permitted. The garden remains open to all guests during operating hours, and our picnic areas cannot be reserved.
If you’re looking for an event venue, America’s Garden Capital includes more than 30 gardens in the region that may be able to host your celebration.
Do you have a gift shop?
Yes. Our small gift shop features garden-inspired books, puzzles, postcards, drinkware and magnets.
Can I bring my own food?
Yes. Guests are welcome to picnic in four designated areas, available first-come, first-served. Blankets and chairs are permitted on Friday evenings (5–8 pm, May through September) only. Please carry out everything you bring to help us keep the garden beautiful.
Do you have Wi-Fi?
We do not provide public Wi-Fi; let yourself disconnect and immerse in nature.
Can I visit Chanticleer using a Public Library Museum Pass?
Yes! Many regional libraries participate in the Museum Pass Program and offer Chanticleer passes to their patrons (available in digital or physical form depending on the library).
Each Library Pass provides general admission for two guests ages 13 and up, valid any day except Mother’s Day weekend and Friday evenings after 4 pm (May through Labor Day). Parking reservations are still required.
Check with your local library to see if they offer a Chanticleer pass.
