Accessibility

Chanticleer welcomes visitors of all abilities. A one-mile paved path circles the garden, and most areas, including the Chanticleer House, are accessible by wheelchair, stroller, and other mobility devices. Our Visitor Services staff can recommend routes that avoid steep terrain and steps, tailored to your specific needs.

Please note: Wheelchairs and scooters are not available for rent. We encourage you to bring your own mobility device.

Service animals are welcome. Pets, emotional support animals, and therapy animals are not permitted in the garden.

Visitor Guidelines

We ask all guests to help us preserve the garden’s beauty and tranquility:

  • Stay on paths and lawns.
  • Admire plants and wildlife without disturbing them (please don’t feed the fish).
  • Keep the garden smoke-free.
  • Carry out what you bring in and keep personal items with you.
  • Keep children within sight.
  • Pets, sports, sunbathing, and loud sounds are not permitted.
  • Private events are not permitted.

Personal, non-commercial photography is welcome. See our Photography Guidelines and Permission.

We welcome picnicking in four designated areas throughout the garden, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Help us keep Chanticleer beautiful: leave areas as you find them and take out everything you bring in.
During extended Friday evening hours, you may picnic anywhere in the garden. Blankets and chairs are permitted during these evening hours only: May through August until 8 pm and September until sundown.

Painting is welcome on lawns and terraces Wednesday through Friday, 10 am to 5 pm. Please stay with your equipment, carry out what you bring in, and leave adequate space for others to enjoy the garden around you.

We welcome and encourage personal photography during your visit. Please remember that all personal photos and videos are for non-commercial use only and be mindful of fellow guests by keeping pathways open.

Serious photographers and those using a tripod are asked to review and sign our Photography Guidelines and Restrictions form, available online and at the Front Desk.
